Profile
Pupillage
As a general principle, the strength of chambers is maintained and improved by taking on new tenants who have successfully completed twelve months pupillage in chambers. We are committed to selecting pupils of outstanding ability and potential who will make a positive contribution to the future development of chambers. Accordingly, whilst no guarantee whatsoever can be given that a tenancy will follow pupillage, our policy is to select carefully, from the many applications we receive each year, those who we believe can become successful practitioners in chambers in due course. The history of chambers shows that most pupils have been offered tenancies on completion of their pupillage.
Our virtual Pupillage Conference will be taking place on 9th September 2023 from 09:30am. For details on how to apply, please download our Pupillage Conference Flyer or visit our social media platforms. Applications closed on Friday 18th August 2023.

Pupillage Recruitment
We intend to recruit pupils into practice areas with vacancies when the Pupillage Gateway
opens. The practice areas will be confirmed in our Pupillage Gateway advert once launched. Applications will not be accepted outside of the gateway system. Chambers offers a pupillage award of £50,000. £25,000 of this award will be paid to pupils within their first six. Chambers offers guaranteed earnings of £25,000 in their second six. The remainder of the award will be paid in guaranteed earnings to pupils within their second six.
Selection Procedure and Criteria
Those applying to Chambers for pupillage through the pupillage gateway are strongly advised to use the information here for guidance in completing their application forms online. Chambers receives hundreds of applications each year for pupillage and competition is strong. We promote equal opportunity in Chambers and therefore encourage candidates to apply from backgrounds that have not traditionally been well represented at the bar.
