Job Overview

A well-established law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to join its growing fraud litigation team. The position focuses on high-stakes cases involving suspected fraudulent claims against insurers, including complex affirmative litigation such as actions under civil racketeering statutes. This opportunity is ideal for a legal professional driven to uncover, challenge, and litigate suspected fraud while handling a diverse docket that spans both state and federal jurisdictions.

Duties

• Collaborate with Special Investigation Units (SIUs) to investigate and defend against questionable or fraudulent claims

• File and litigate affirmative actions involving insurance fraud, including complex claims under RICO statutes

• Develop and execute strategic legal approaches for each matter

• Review case assignments and define case trajectory from inception through resolution

• Draft and respond to discovery, pleadings, and dispositive motions

• Conduct depositions and examinations under oath (EUOs)

• Represent clients in court conferences, hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and trials

• Prepare pre-trial and post-trial briefs and motions in federal and state courts

• Negotiate settlements and draft corresponding legal documentation

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil litigation, preferably focused on fraud-related matters

• Demonstrated litigation experience in both affirmative and defense claims

• Proficiency in handling discovery, court appearances, and negotiation of complex settlements

• Prior experience with RICO or similar fraud-based litigation is preferred

• Ability to manage a diverse and high-volume caseload independently

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of New York

• Admission to federal court(s) is an asset

Skills

• Strong analytical and investigative abilities

• Excellent legal research and persuasive writing skills

• Comfort with courtroom procedures and litigation tactics

• Skilled in handling complex negotiations and settlement discussions

• Ability to work collaboratively with investigative departments and insurance clients
