Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking an experienced Finance Attorney to join its team in Lansing, MI. The ideal candidate will bring 6-15 years of significant experience in finance matters, with a demonstrated ability to lead transactions in a first-chair capacity. This individual will comprehensively understand both lender and borrower side work, loan documentation, and due diligence. The Finance Attorney will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating credit agreements and related loan documents and will ideally have a portable book of business. The role requires an entrepreneurial mindset, excellent academic credentials, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Duties:

• Lead and manage complex finance transactions as a first-chair attorney.
• Draft, review, and negotiate credit agreements and related loan documents.
• Provide comprehensive legal advice on both lender and borrower side matters.
• Conduct thorough due diligence for finance transactions.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, demonstrating strong business development capabilities.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with high responsiveness.
• Ensure exceptional attention to detail in all legal documentation and client communications.
• Provide outstanding customer/client service throughout the transaction process.

Requirements:

• 6-15 years of substantial experience in finance matters.
• Proven ability to lead transactions in a first-chair capacity.
• Comprehensive understanding of lender and borrower side work, loan documentation, and due diligence.
• Proficiency in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating credit agreements and related loan documents.
• Portable book of business preferred.
• Demonstrated business development capabilities and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Excellent academic credentials.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining high responsiveness.
• Exceptional attention to detail and outstanding client service skills.
• Admission to the Michigan Bar is required.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Michigan Bar.
