Location

Duties

• Conduct title examinations for oil and gas properties in the Appalachia region

• Analyze deeds, leases, contracts, and other land-related documents

• Draft title opinions, identifying potential defects, liens, and ownership issues

• Perform due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures in the energy sector

• Provide legal risk assessments and strategic counsel for oil and gas transactions

• Draft and negotiate key agreements including purchase/sale contracts, leases, and joint operating agreements

• Monitor and interpret applicable federal, state, and local oil and gas regulations

• Collaborate with litigation attorneys on dispute resolution when necessary

• Work closely with legal team members to ensure thorough and accurate project execution

• Meet quarterly billing requirement of 450 hours

• Participate in ongoing professional development and continuous learning

• Support special projects and firm initiatives as needed

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience drafting title opinions for lands in Ohio, West Virginia, or Pennsylvania

• Experience with unit-wide division order ownerships, including tract and allocation factors

• Strong understanding of legal and regulatory requirements specific to the oil and gas industry

• Proven ability to manage multiple legal assignments simultaneously

• High level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to ethical practice

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction, with preference for Ohio, West Virginia, or Pennsylvania
