Job Overview:
A reputable law firm located in Buffalo, NY, is currently seeking an experienced IP Trademark Attorney to join its growing team. This role is ideal for a skilled attorney with a robust background in managing both domestic and international trademark portfolios. The position involves a diverse range of responsibilities, including trademark registration, clearance, counseling, and handling opposition and cancellation actions before the TTAB. The firm seeks a candidate who excels in both client communication and legal analysis, with a strong focus on providing strategic IP advice.

Duties:

• Manage and protect U.S. and international trademark portfolios for clients in various industries
• Conduct trademark searches, assessments, and clearance opinions
• Handle trademark registration processes, from filing to enforcement
• Provide legal advice on trademark strategies, including portfolio management and licensing agreements
• Represent clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the TTAB of the USPTO
• Draft and review trademark-related agreements, including licensing and assignment agreements
• Work closely with clients to understand their business objectives and develop tailored IP strategies
• Coordinate with external counsel in international jurisdictions as necessary

Requirements:

• Minimum 4-8 years of experience in trademark law, with a focus on portfolio management
• Proven expertise in handling U.S. and foreign trademark registrations
• Experience representing clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the TTAB
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to effectively interact with clients and stakeholders
• High level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
• Litigation experience is a plus

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Active and in good standing with the state bar

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

• Expertise in U.S. and international trademark law
• Excellent legal writing and drafting abilities
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and internal teams
