A law firm seeks a skilled real estate associate to join its New York City office. The ideal candidate will possess between three and five years of hands-on experience in commercial leasing, property acquisitions and dispositions, as well as real estate financing. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic team handling sophisticated transactions across the metropolitan market.
Conduct and negotiate commercial lease arrangements for retail, office, and mixed-use properties
Oversee due diligence and execute acquisition and sale agreements for commercial assets
Structure, review, and close financing documents for property acquisitions, refinancing, and development loans
Coordinate with lenders, title agencies, and escrow agents to facilitate seamless closings
Draft, review, and amend purchase and sale contracts, letters of intent, and related transaction documents
Advise clients on zoning compliance, title issues, and environmental matters affecting real property
Monitor key milestones and manage timelines to ensure all transactional deadlines are met
Collaborate with partners and senior counsel to strategize on complex property matters and risk mitigation
Minimum of 3–5 years practicing commercial real estate law, including leasing, acquisitions/dispositions, and financing
Admitted to the New York State Bar and in good standing
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple transactions concurrently with minimal supervision
Proficiency in analyzing title reports, lease abstracts, and loan covenants
Strong negotiation, written communication, and client-counseling skills
Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks governing New York City real estate transactions
Organized, detail-oriented approach to managing contract workflows and closing checklists
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Active license to practice law in the State of New York (required)
(Optional) Membership or participation in real estate industry organizations, such as the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) or American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL)
Expert drafting and negotiating of transactional documents (leases, purchase agreements, loan agreements)
Thorough understanding of real estate financing structures, including mezzanine debt and equity arrangements
Ability to interpret title commitments, survey reports, and environmental assessments
Acute analytical acumen for assessing deal-specific risks and advising on mitigation strategies
Excellent interpersonal skills for liaising with clients, lenders, brokers, and title agents
Self-motivated team player with a polished professional demeanor and strong work ethic
