Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Premises General Liability Attorney to join its expanding insurance defense practice in the New York Metro Area. The successful candidate will manage cases from inception through resolution or trial, providing high-quality legal representation in premises liability matters.

Duties

• Defend property owners and businesses in premises liability cases, including slip/trip and fall claims.
• Independently manage a full caseload from inception through trial or settlement.
• Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements.
• Conduct depositions, site inspections, and legal research.
• Attend court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Collaborate with clients and insurance carriers to develop case strategies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of New York laws relevant to general liability claims.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in premises/general liability defense litigation.
• Strong litigation and case management skills.
• Proven trial or trial-prep experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and case management systems.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.

Skills

• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• Experience with high-exposure and complex litigation cases preferred.
