A law firm in New York City is seeking an insightful and detail-oriented attorney to join its trusts and estates team. This position offers a compelling opportunity to work closely with individuals, families, and fiduciaries on matters involving legacy planning, asset protection, and wealth transfer strategies. Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement customized estate plans, including wills, trusts, and related instruments
Advise clients on tax-efficient strategies for wealth transfer and charitable giving
Represent clients in probate and surrogate’s court proceedings, including contested and uncontested matters
Support fiduciaries with trust administration, including compliance and beneficiary issues
Coordinate with financial advisors, accountants, and family offices to align estate plans with broader financial goals
Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on estate, gift, and generation-skipping tax implications
Required Background & Licensure:
Between 1 to 6 years of relevant experience in estate planning and administration
Licensed to practice law in the State of New York and be in good standing
Demonstrated knowledge of federal and New York State estate, gift, and income tax rules
Familiarity with surrogate’s court procedures and trust administration best practices
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
LL.M. in Taxation is preferred
