Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Registered Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property Department in Dallas, TX. The successful candidate will work under the direction of supervising attorneys and the Paralegal Manager, supporting the IP Patent Litigation practice group. This role requires sensitivity to client needs and the ability to foster lasting client relationships.

Duties

• Draft applications and responses to office actions for US and foreign applications.
• Support attorneys in technical aspects of post-grant proceedings, invalidity and non-infringement opinions, due diligence, and related patent litigation.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice before the USPTO.
• 3 years (6 years preferred) of experience as a registered patent agent prosecuting patent applications.
• Industry experience in technology or engineering companies is a plus.
• Experience working directly with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Education

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in physics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
• Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and significant industry experience may also be considered.

Certifications

• Registered Patent Agent certification.

Skills

• Proficient in Westlaw, patent-related databases, Internet research, Excel, Outlook, and MS Word.
• Excellent analytical, technical, and critical-thinking skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and apply mathematical concepts.
