A highly respected law firm in Southeast Michigan is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney to join its Trusts & Estates Practice Group. This role is ideal for an experienced attorney with deep knowledge in estate planning, trust administration, probate, and tax planning for high-net-worth clients. Duties
Develop comprehensive estate plans based on individual client goals
Advise clients on gift and estate tax implications and tax minimization strategies
Handle probate matters, including asset valuation, debt settlement, and court proceedings
Administer trusts in compliance with legal standards and trust terms
Assist in complex wealth transfer strategies, including:
CRUTs
SLATs
GRATs
FLPs
QPRTs
IDGTs
ILITs
Represent clients in succession planning, fiduciary accounting, and will/trust contests
Draft legal documents, including family settlement agreements and tax filings
Maintain ongoing communication with clients to ensure understanding of complex legal concepts
Manage sensitive client information with confidentiality and professionalism
Requirements
5–8 years of relevant experience in estate planning, trust and estate settlement, and tax-related legal matters
Previous experience advising high-net-worth individuals and families
Interest in client development and long-term relationship management
Education
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications
Active license to practice law in the State of Michigan, in good standing
Skills
Deep understanding of estate, trust, tax, and probate law
Exceptional drafting skills and legal precision
Excellent verbal and written communication
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Ability to simplify complex legal concepts for clients
Collaborative mindset and ability to work in a team-driven environment
