Location

Duties

• Represent insurance companies and insured clients in general liability matters

• Handle cases involving:

  • Personal injury

  • Premises liability

  • Construction accidents

• Manage files from inception through trial, including:

  • Drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents

  • Conducting depositions and pre-trial discovery

  • Preparing for hearings, trials, and arbitrations

• Advise clients on risk exposure and legal strategy

• Participate in settlement negotiations, mediations, and ADR proceedings

• Coordinate with experts, witnesses, and insurance adjusters

• Stay informed on updates in case law, statutes, and regulations impacting liability defense

• Assist in the development and mentorship of junior attorneys and support staff

Requirements

• 3–6 years of experience in insurance defense litigation, particularly general liability

• Strong understanding of New York tort and liability law

• Demonstrated ability to independently manage cases

• Prior trial experience or substantial trial preparation exposure

• Excellent analytical and legal strategy skills

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

• Active member of the New York State Bar (required)

• Admission to New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania Bars is a plus

• Proficient in legal drafting and research

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Skilled in negotiations and settlement analysis

• Well-versed in court procedures and motion practice

• High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management abilities

• Proficient with case management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
