Senior Personal Injury Attorney - Pre-Litigation
A well-established law firm located in Richmond, VA is seeking a seasoned attorney to lead the pre-litigation phase of personal injury matters. This role involves comprehensive case oversight from intake through to settlement, with strong support from a dedicated legal team. The ideal candidate will be client-focused, highly responsive, and experienced in negotiations and case evaluation, particularly within the context of personal injury law.
Manage a portfolio of personal injury matters through all pre-litigation stages
Evaluate case strength and assess potential value within 30 days of file intake
Conduct monthly reviews of all assigned files to monitor progress and strategic direction
Prepare, revise, and analyze legal documents including motions, demand letters, and pleadings
Ensure compliance with all relevant filing and procedural deadlines
Maintain prompt and professional communication with clients, paralegals, and other stakeholders
Engage with insurers, medical professionals, and expert witnesses to build evidentiary support
Lead settlement discussions and negotiate favorable outcomes
Participate in mediations and judicial proceedings involving minor settlements or wrongful death claims
Review and reconcile liens and expenses before client disbursements
Provide additional support on litigation matters when required
Active Virginia State Bar license (required)
At least 2 years of focused experience in personal injury law, particularly pre-litigation
High proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents
Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing a high-volume caseload
Strong client interaction skills with the ability to communicate with empathy and professionalism
Capable of using case management tools and common office software
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited institution
Undergraduate degree (Bachelor’s) required
Admission to the Virginia Bar in good standing
Strong knowledge of tort law and personal injury procedures
Familiarity with medical terminology and treatment documentation
Outstanding organizational, analytical, and decision-making capabilities
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Technologically proficient, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and legal practice platforms
Ability to maintain discretion and manage confidential case details appropriately
Professional judgment with sound reasoning and a client-first approach
