Patent Attorney

Profile

A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Patent Attorney with 1-4 years of experience to join their team. The ideal candidate must be registered to practice before the United States Patent Office, possess excellent communication and writing skills, and demonstrate a strong work ethic. Preference will be given to candidates with a background or experience in software, including artificial intelligence and machine learning. Arizona Bar admission and prior law firm experience are highly desirable.

Duties:

• Interviewing inventors to assess patentability and gather necessary information.
• Drafting and prosecuting patent applications, including overcoming rejections under 35 U.S.C. §101.
• Conducting patent searches and analyzing prior art.
• Advising clients on patent strategy and portfolio management.
• Conducting patent litigation support as needed.

Requirements:

• Must be registered to practice before the United States Patent Office.
• 1-4 years of experience in patent law.
• Strong communication and writing skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in a relevant technical field preferred.

Certifications:

Admission to the Arizona Bar strongly preferred.

Skills:

• Proficiency in patent drafting and prosecution.
• Familiarity with patent laws, regulations, and procedures.
