Chief Compliance Officer
The candidate will be responsible for: Establishes and maintains an effective compliance program to promote awareness of, and compliance with, Maniilaq’s values, applicable laws, regulations, policies and standards. Reports directly to the President/CEO. Provides ongoing leadership, advice, consultation and guidance on all matters that pertain to compliance and risk management issues. Builds and maintains positive relationships with managers, executive leadership and appropriate staff for the purposes of achieving and sustain compliance program goals and objectives. Works collaboratively with leadership and staff throughout the organization to provide training, education and promote awareness of and help resolve regulatory and other applicable standards. Works proactively to assess and prioritize risk and compliance issues and to identify, monitor and improve key processes and internal controls. Prepares and submits reports to the Health Services Administrator, Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors. Keeps up-to-date on laws and standards governing health services compliance and risk management, and maintains professional credentials through continuing education. Works collaboratively with the all Maniilaq divisions. Participates as member of the Maniilaq Executive Leadership Team (MELT) and the MHS Executive Leadership Team. Must have: Knowledge of ethics and compliance program elements, principles and practices, privacy, security, internal controls, and audit functions. Knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations that effect the provision of health care and health care organizations. Knowledge of standards applicable to tribal organizations and not-for-profit corporations as applied to the provision of health care, public health, environmental health, construction, information technology, human resources, and finance operations. Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and requirements applicable to Tribes and tribal health systems including Medicare/Medicaid, insurance reimbursement, fraud and abuse laws, accreditation, licensing, and certification standards. Knowledge of compliance investigation and auditing principles and standards. Skill in assessing compliance risk, interpreting and applying applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and professional practice standards for compliance and integrity programs. Skill in diplomacy and establishing positive collaborative working relationships with individuals with a wide array of cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds. Demonstrated skills and experience in assimilating, reconciling, and prioritizing diverse information, recommendations, policy considerations, and organizational objectives. Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication. Skill in assessing complex situations and prioritizing multiple projects and demands. Skill in analyzing and evaluating internal control methods and procedures. Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or greater in an applicable field from an accredited college/university. A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and successful Alaska Bar completion. If not Alaska Bar completion at the time of hire, successful completion within 1-year of hire. Should have 2+ years’ experience in the health care field with a focus on program management, performance improvement, clinical risk management, compliance, regulations and accreditation.
