Medical Staff Attorney
The candidate provide legal services, advocacy, education, and other support to In-Home Supportive Health Services (IHSS) providers, consumers, and their families. Will also work in collaboration with company’s Impact Team and IHSS and Medi Cal policy specialist to identify and execute on impact litigation and policy initiatives. Provide representation (state hearings and writs) to clients regarding vital government benefits, including to MediCal and IHSS. This necessarily includes conducting intake interviews and assessments, and working collaboratively with the other members of the Caregiver Rights team to determine case selection criteria and advocacy strategies; Incollaboration with the Pro Bono Manager, recruit, train, and supervise pro bono and law student volunteers in IHSS client representation engagements; Present MediCal, IHSS, long term care and financial planning information to members of the public, public policy makers, and other advocates; Contribute to Impact Team strategy sessions and initiatives by providing information on client community needs and substantive legal knowledge regarding MediCal and IHSS benefits. Participate in coalition work to advance the rights of IHSS consumer and providers.
