Controller/Finance Manager
The candidate will oversee and be accountable for all aspects of the firm’s financial and accounting staff, business processes and systems to support operational efficiency, business productivity and financial controls. Serve as an advisor to and pro-actively assist management, and partner with operational peers, to drive results and contribute to optimal business performance. Manage the firm’s finance and accounting functions through the employment and development of the right people and adoption and maintenance of appropriate business processes and systems. The finance and accounting functions encompass: Financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, including analysis of KPIs and dashboards. Accounting and internal controls for accurate and timely recording of transactions. Billing and time recording to assure accurate and timely invoices to clients. Collections and accounts receivable management to maximize revenue flows. Cash flow, working capital and funding needs management. Accounts payable. Client intake to ensure compliance with the firm policies. Reporting/information provision to external bodies: tax authorities, banks, firm accountant. Informing and supporting strategic decision-making (from financial and business perspectives). Monitor and support the achievement of financial goals (revenue growth, profitability, productivity) to ensure that internal and external client needs and expectations are satisfactorily addressed. Understand and alert management to financial risks, implications of financial trends and non-compliance with firm policies and advise management on their impact on current performance and long-term strategy. Explore practices, systems and methods that can be adapted and/or adopted in order to drive greater financial efficiency and effectiveness and instill a culture of continuous improvement. Work cross-functionally and collaboratively with other teams within the firm, providing financial information, data and support, and sharing know-how regarding business processes, policies and needs, to foster effectiveness and efficiency is all functional areas. Bachelor’s degree with finance, business and/or accounting focus. CPA and/or MBA, with specialization in finance, preferred. 7+ years of progressive responsibility in finance/accounting roles. 3+ years of management/supervisory experience, preferably within a professional services firm. Outstanding organization skills and a track record of producing work of a high quality with minimal oversight. Demonstrated ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Superior written and verbal communications skills with proven ability to interact diplomatically with partners and senior management, to provide context and insight to influence decisions. Ability to collaborate and establish rapport with colleagues to work as a team while respecting cultural, social and academic diversity. Working proficiency in accounting systems/software (preferably Juris) and MS Office (especially technical spreadsheets in MS Excel).
