Profile
A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Torrance, CA office. This is a full-time role supporting a team of seasoned attorneys and legal professionals in matters spanning probate, family law, business disputes, and trust administration.
Duties
Conduct in-depth legal research and draft memoranda to support case strategy.
Prepare and file court documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement agreements, and contracts.
Attend hearings, status conferences, and other proceedings alongside senior attorneys.
Assist in identifying and resolving conflicts of interest and advise clients on potential solutions.
Collaborate with partners and paralegals to organize evidence, develop case fact patterns, and prepare witness materials.
Maintain and organize client files to ensure accessibility and accuracy for the legal team.
Communicate with clients regarding case status, strategy, and next steps.
Negotiate on behalf of clients in settlement discussions and contract negotiations.
Work toward efficient case resolution by coordinating with senior counsel and support staff.
Meet a billable target of 140 hours per month.
Requirements
Active license to practice law in the State of California.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in one or more of the following: probate, family law, business litigation, or trust law.
Demonstrated courtroom exposure—participation in hearings or similar proceedings.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines and collaborate within a legal team.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to oversee case files.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and legal research platforms.
Effective written and oral communication abilities—comfortable drafting legal documents and advocating in court.
Self-motivated, with a willingness to learn from senior attorneys and contribute to firm growth.
Education
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school with a solid academic record.
Certifications
Passed the California Bar Examination and be in good standing.
Active membership in the American Bar Association (or similar professional organization).
Skills
Advanced legal research and writing proficiency.
Negotiation and conflict-resolution capabilities.
Aptitude for analyzing complex factual scenarios and identifying relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor under pressure and manage a caseload efficiently.
Familiarity with probate court procedures, family court filings, and business dispute resolutions.
