Duties

• Represent school districts in special education litigation and administrative proceedings.
• Handle impartial due process hearings and related appeals.
• Defend claims under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and related laws.
• Advise school district administrators on education programs and compliance.
• Draft litigation documents including pleadings and motions.
• Manage discovery and conduct hearings and trials.
• Counsel clients on litigation risk and dispute resolution strategies.
• Supervise and mentor associates and support staff.
• Develop relationships with school district leadership and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in New York.
• Significant litigation experience in state and federal courts.
• Experience representing school districts or public-sector educational entities.
• Experience with special education due process hearings and related litigation.
• Experience with large urban or metropolitan school districts preferred.
• Partner-level or senior-level experience with a strong litigation background.

Education

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to practice law in New York.

Skills

• Strong oral and written advocacy skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage complex matters independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
