Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced nonprofit attorney in Boston, Massachusetts. The ideal candidate will join a team dedicated to serving nonprofit health and human services organizations, educational institutions, and other nonprofit entities. This full-time position offers a hybrid work schedule.

Duties

• Form new organizations and apply for tax-exempt status.
• Advise clients on obligations as tax-exempt organizations and Massachusetts charities.
• Facilitate mergers, corporate affiliations, and restructuring.
• Research tax and other federal, state, and local laws.
• Prepare memos and transactional documents.
• Negotiate, review, and draft legal documents.

Requirements

• 3-7 years of experience in nonprofit corporate matters.
• Motivated self-starter with strong academic credentials.
• Excellent writing skills and strong work ethic.
• Ability to analyze and synthesize relevant facts and laws.
• Familiarity with laws applicable to governmental entities is a plus.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Massachusetts.
