Job Overview:
Law Firm based in Vero Beach, FL, engages a skilled attorney to advocate for individuals facing removal proceedings before the Immigration Court, Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and related agencies. This role entails managing a robust caseload, crafting strategic defense plans, and delivering culturally sensitive representation. Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is essential.

Duties:

  • Analyze and interpret complex statutory, regulatory, and case-law issues impacting removal defense

  • Identify and pursue appropriate forms of relief (asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, waivers)

  • Conduct in-depth legal research on evolving immigration and criminal law intersections

  • Draft petitions, briefs, motions, affidavits, and supporting documentation for submission to EOIR, BIA, and USCIS

  • Present oral arguments and examine witnesses in court and detention facilities

  • Meet clients at detention centers to strategize case approaches and prepare testimony

  • Represent clients in ICE interviews and maintain ongoing liaison with immigration authorities

  • Track case status, ensure timely filings, and maintain clear, empathetic communication with clients

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience in immigration law, with emphasis on removal defense

  • Demonstrated proficiency in navigating EOIR dockets and USCIS protocols

  • Full professional fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken

  • Excellent organizational capabilities and attention to detail

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing and oral advocacy

  • Cultural competency and sensitivity in client interactions

  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with competing deadlines

  • Proficiency with case management software and remote hearing platforms
