The candidate enhances attorney effectiveness by developing information, evidence, and resolution options for pending litigation or pre-litigation disputes; work on public record requests; tracking cases; supporting attorney with scheduling and document management. Works on and responds to public record requests, including compilation and review of documentation and redaction as necessary. Conducts legal research to assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, etc. This includes gathering and analyzing appropriate laws, relevant legal articles, and other information, and preparing written reports to aid the attorneys when determining how cases should be handled. Maintains schedules for attorneys and, when asked, is present at meetings, trials, depositions, administrative hearings, etc. to take notes and prepare summaries as needed. Schedules interviews, hearings, meetings, and depositions with involved parties (clients, attorneys, witnesses, etc.). Drafts and transcribes correspondence and pleadings including, but not limited to complaints, subpoenas, interrogatories, deposition notices, pretrial orders, and legal briefs. Organize case files. Must have Bachelor's degree; paralegal certificate. Should have 3+ years of related experience in a legal office. Knowledge of Louisiana state laws and regulations; knowledge of the firm System's policies, procedures, principles, and practices is preferred.
