Insurance Defense Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm seeks an experienced Insurance Defense Associate Attorney to join its team in Troy, Michigan. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in insurance defense litigation. This is an opportunity to take on a dynamic caseload, working independently and collaboratively with a team of experienced attorneys. The successful candidate will manage litigation matters from inception to resolution, including depositions, motions, and trial preparation.

Duties

• Take and defend depositions of witnesses, clients, and experts.
• Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions, motions to compel, and motions in limine.
• Prepare pleadings, including complaints, answers, and discovery responses.
• Manage day-to-day case activities, including client communication and strategy development.
• Assist in appellate matters as needed.
• Negotiate settlements and represent clients in dispute resolution processes.
• Work both independently and as part of a team on complex cases.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Member in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan.
• At least 2 years of experience as a litigator, with a preference for insurance defense and civil litigation experience.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to handle cases independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage a full caseload and meet deadlines.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience in dispute resolution.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Must be admitted to the State Bar of Michigan.

• Proficient in legal research, writing, and analysis.
• Experience with insurance defense litigation, including depositions and motion practice.
• Strong negotiation and client communication skills.
• Ability to handle complex cases with minimal supervision.
