Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A well-established law firm based in Hartford, CT is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its growing litigation team. The successful candidate will represent mortgage servicer and investor clients in both residential and commercial foreclosure matters, as well as title and real estate litigation. This includes managing contested foreclosures, defensive litigation, and other related matters. The role will require a high level of responsibility, including direct client interaction, courtroom appearances, document drafting, and strategic case development.

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee a caseload of contested foreclosures, defensive litigation, and ancillary matters on behalf of mortgage servicers and investors.
  • Prosecute commercial foreclosures from initiation to conclusion.
  • Review and analyze loan files, title reports, and other client-related documents.
  • Draft legal motions, pleadings, settlement agreements, discovery demands, and responses.
  • Appear in both state and federal courts for case management conferences, hearings, motion arguments, trials, and appeals.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to ensure the accurate implementation of their directives.
  • Work with support staff to prepare documents for client review, court filing, and internal reporting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to research complex cases and develop effective strategies for client resolution.
  • Prepare and track case budgets, seek fee approval from clients, and monitor billable/non-billable hours.

Requirements:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bar admission in Connecticut (in good standing) required.
  • Additional Bar licenses in Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and/or New York are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant litigation experience preferred; however, candidates with less experience may be considered based on qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with New York Mortgage Foreclosure Law and practice is required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar license in Connecticut.
  • Additional state bar licenses are a plus.
