A law firm is seeking a Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney to join its Parsippany, New Jersey office. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate on high-stakes matters, work closely with a supportive team, and grow within a dynamic defense practice.

Duties

• Handle all aspects of medical‐negligence litigation from inception through resolution, including drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and arguing motions

• Collaborate with expert witnesses, preparing detailed reports and coordinating deposition strategy

• Participate in settlement negotiations, mediations, and pre-trial conferences to advance client interests

• Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring timely progress and adherence to procedural deadlines

• Advise healthcare clients on risk-management strategies and regulatory compliance to mitigate potential exposures

• Maintain clear, professional communication with clients, carriers, and co‐counsel throughout the lifecycle of each file

Requirements

• 1–6 years of litigation experience, with a focus on defending healthcare professionals or institutions in New Jersey

• Demonstrated ability to lead courtroom presentations, client meetings, and settlement discussions

• Proficiency in drafting complex legal memoranda, motion papers, and settlement agreements

• Strong organizational skills, with the capacity to juggle multiple cases and shifting priorities

• Exceptional analytical judgment paired with persuasive written and oral advocacy

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

• Admission to the New Jersey Bar in good standing

Certifications

• Active membership in the New Jersey State Bar Association

• Any specialty accreditation or advanced training in civil litigation or professional liability (preferred, but not required)

• Insightful case evaluation and risk-assessment capabilities

• Effective negotiation techniques geared toward cost-effective resolutions

• Advanced legal research skills, including familiarity with New Jersey court rules and electronic filing systems
