Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in Rockford, IL, is seeking a motivated and skilled Associate Attorney to join their team. This position offers the opportunity to grow within the firm, focusing on civil litigation matters. The successful candidate will be expected to manage a diverse caseload, provide legal counsel, and contribute to case strategy under the guidance of senior attorneys.

Duties:

• Draft pleadings, motions, orders, discovery requests, and legal memoranda.
• Prepare and respond to written discovery requests.
• Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation and strategy.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Review client documents, create case evaluations and draft status report correspondence.
• Participate in mediations, and pretrial settlement conferences, and represent the firm in court appearances.
• Interact with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and staff regularly.
• Manage a substantive caseload, ensuring all deadlines and expectations are met.

Requirements:

• Active license to practice law in Illinois.
• 1-5 years of experience in civil litigation or similar legal practice.
• Proficiency in legal research tools (LexisNexis, etc.) and Microsoft Office.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfortable navigating both state and federal court hearings with professionalism.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Illinois State Bar.
