Perform high-quality billable work
Prepare case chronology and witness list upon review of case files
E-filing in both local and federal courts
Draft non-party subpoenas for documents and/or appearance
Arrange for service of process of complaints and subpoenas
Prepare FOIA requests to governmental agencies
Conduct legal and factual research on individuals and corporations
Assist with the preparation of exhibits and other documents for use at depositions, hearings and trials
Review documents for privilege and relevance in advance of production
Handle case management from initial filing through trial and appeal
Docket and calendar court and internal deadlines
Assist with bates-stamping, redaction, duplication and indexing of documents
Communicate effectively with personnel, client, courts, other counsel
Requirements
Knowledge of legal terminology
Familiarity with legal forms and documents (pleadings & discovery, etc.)
Familiarity with the various governmental agencies involved in L&E matters, e.g. EEOC, KCHR, NLRB, AAA, DOL
Ability to cite check legal briefs and memoranda (preferred)
Good organization and planning skills
Keen attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work with limited supervision after assignment of tasks
Ability to multi-task and set priorities to meet assigned deadlines
Strong communications skills
Strong writing and editing skills
Strong research skills (ability to conduct online investigation)
Problem solving skills (ability to figure out how to resolve the issue and obtain the information needed)
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and Paralegal certification preferred
Minimum 3 years of experience in Labor & Employment or Litigation
Proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook; proficiency with Excel required
