A law firm in Irvine is seeking a Mid-Level to Senior Special Education Attorney with preferably 3+ years of experience. The candidate will be responsible for providing legal representation and advocacy for clients in special education matters.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal representation and advocacy for clients in special education matters.
  • Conduct legal research on special education laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including due process complaints, settlement agreements, and educational plans.
  • Represent clients at Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, mediation sessions, and administrative hearings.
  • Advise clients on their rights and options under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other relevant laws.
  • Collaborate with school districts, parents, and other stakeholders to resolve disputes and achieve positive outcomes for clients.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar.
  • Preferably 3+ years of experience in special education law.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Experience representing clients in due process hearings and other administrative proceedings.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to advocating for the rights of children with disabilities and their families.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the California State Bar.

 

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Effective advocacy skills, both in and out of the courtroom.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical advice to clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
