A law firm seeks a highly experienced Family Immigration Attorney to join its legal team in White Plains, New York. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in family-based immigration matters, including adjustment of status, consular processing, waivers, naturalization, and removal defense. This senior-level role requires managing complex cases independently, mentoring junior attorneys, and serving as a subject matter expert within the firm's immigration practice.

Duties

  • Represent clients in a broad range of family-based immigration matters
  • Prepare and file petitions and applications with USCIS, NVC, and immigration courts
  • Handle cases involving adjustment of status, I-601/I-601A waivers, fiancé visas, naturalization, and VAWA petitions
  • Attend USCIS interviews, immigration court hearings, and consular appointments when required
  • Conduct legal research and develop strategies for complex immigration issues
  • Provide expert guidance to clients throughout the immigration process
  • Oversee and mentor junior attorneys and legal support staff
  • Maintain accurate documentation and case management records

Requirements

  • 20 years of experience practicing immigration law, with a focus on family-based cases
  • Extensive experience handling both affirmative applications and removal defense
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration law, policies, and procedures
  • Proven track record of successful case outcomes
  • Ability to work independently and manage a significant caseload
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (New York preferred)

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in good standing
  • Membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) preferred

Skills

  • Deep understanding of family-based immigration law and removal defense
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Client-focused with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in immigration case management systems (e.g., INSZoom, LawLogix)
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills (preferred but not required)
