Job Overview
A law firm seeks a knowledgeable Civil Litigation Associate Attorney for its Providence, RI office. The successful candidate will join a team of dedicated litigators and gain hands-on experience in defending complex litigation disputes. A Rhode Island license and 3 to 5 years of litigation experience are required. Prior courtroom experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Duties

• Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation and strategy development.
• Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, discovery motions, and settlement agreements.
• Attend and conduct depositions, actively participating in case development.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients while maintaining strong communication with all parties involved.
• Prepare for and attend court appearances by organizing case files and gathering necessary evidence.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex cases and provide support during trials.
• Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to tort law.
• Maintain accurate records of case progress and client communications.

Requirements

• Active license to practice law in Rhode Island. Dual license to practice in Massachusetts preferred.
• 3-5 years of litigation experience.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Rhode Island.
