Job Overview

A law firm seeks a State and Local Tax Associate in Washington, DC. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex tax matters across various industries and jurisdictions, collaborating with a cross-office team to provide strategic client solutions.

Duties

• Support clients on corporate income and franchise tax matters.
• Advise on sales and use tax issues.
• Handle property tax and payroll tax concerns.
• Assist with personal income tax matters.
• Provide controversy, audit defense, and litigation support.
• Engage in tax planning, structuring, and transactional analysis.
• Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on multi-state tax projects.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of dedicated State and Local Tax experience.
• Experience with corporate income, franchise, sales, use, property, payroll, and/or individual income tax matters.
• Exposure to controversy or litigation is a plus.
• Experience with tax planning and restructuring preferred.
• Strong research, writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across offices and disciplines.

Education

• JD degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice in the state in which they are officing.
