A law firm seeks a highly skilled Patent Agent to join its intellectual property team in Royal Oak, MI. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background and proven experience in patent prosecution, focusing on drafting and prosecuting patent applications in complex scientific fields.

Duties

• Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO and international patent offices.
• Collaborate with inventors, scientists, and corporate clients to develop IP strategies.
• Oversee patent portfolios and provide guidance on IP protection and enforcement.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Physics, Chemical Physics, or Organic Chemistry (required).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in patent prosecution, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with deposition technology is a plus.
• Admission to practice before the USPTO; state bar admission also required for attorneys.

Education

• Ph.D. in Physics, Chemical Physics, or Organic Chemistry.

Certifications

• Admission to practice before the USPTO.
• State bar admission (for attorneys).
