Job Overview:
A prominent law firm with a national presence is seeking a Practice Innovation Attorney to support and drive the development of legal technology solutions and process improvements across its practice groups. This role plays a key part in the firm’s innovation strategy by aligning cutting-edge tools with legal workflows to enhance client service delivery. Ideal for a litigation-experienced attorney with a passion for technology, this position involves collaboration with legal teams, IT, and external vendors to implement solutions that improve efficiency and promote firm-wide adoption of innovative practices.
Location:
Duties:
Partner with legal leadership, attorneys, IT, and knowledge management to assess technology needs
Develop and execute tailored innovation strategies for legal departments
Evaluate emerging legal and non-legal technologies and recommend practical solutions
Lead pilot programs and proof-of-concept testing for new technology tools
Oversee the firmwide rollout and integration of new tech platforms into legal workflows
Deliver training and ongoing support for attorneys using new systems
Collaborate across departments including IT and marketing to ensure alignment with broader firm initiatives
Act as a liaison between attorneys, vendors, and external innovation leaders
Maintain awareness of legal tech trends and foster relationships with industry partners
Identify workflow and service delivery improvements through automation and AI solutions
Support development of data analytics and knowledge management tools
Contribute to firm innovation committees and working groups
Supervise and guide the work of the Innovation Lead in strategic alignment with firm priorities
Prepare and present reports and updates to firm leadership on innovation initiatives
Requirements:
Experience practicing litigation (employment law experience preferred)
Demonstrated interest and involvement in legal technology and innovation
Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives with a project management mindset
Prior experience implementing legal tech (e.g., document automation, AI, case management)
Capable of translating complex technical topics into practical information for attorneys
Track record of leading cross-functional collaboration and training initiatives
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strategic thinker with attention to detail
Skilled in legal workflow development and process mapping
Comfortable with change management and attorney engagement
