Job Overview:
A reputable law firm based in Michigan is looking for experienced Construction Attorneys to join its growing and highly respected construction practice. This position provides a unique opportunity to work on some of the state's most prominent construction projects, advising a wide range of public and private clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction law and be comfortable working on complex projects from inception to completion.
Duties:
Provide legal counsel to clients across all phases of construction and development projects.
Draft, negotiate, and review contracts about construction and development agreements.
Advise clients on issues related to real estate, financing, zoning, insurance, and environmental regulations.
Assist clients in planning and managing large, multifaceted construction projects.
Resolve disputes through negotiation, alternative dispute resolution, and litigation when necessary.
Analyze project specifications to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
Oversee claims, warranty submissions, and bonding issues.
Represent clients in construction defect cases involving contractors, architects, and engineers.
Prepare construction liens, manage lien foreclosure litigation, and ensure proper documentation for recording and perfection of liens.
Requirements:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction law, preferably with experience in large-scale commercial projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and organization.
Strong analytical abilities and the capability to quickly understand complex technical issues.
Proven problem-solving skills, with a strategic approach to resolving legal matters.
Experience in managing projects with multiple deliverables and stakeholders.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong academic credentials.
Education:
J.D. from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
State Bar membership in Michigan.
Skills:
Strong negotiation and drafting abilities.
Deep understanding of construction law, real estate, zoning, environmental issues, and alternative dispute resolution methods.
Effective client relationship management.
