Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Patent Agent with a technical background in Electrical or Chemical Engineering in Minneapolis, MN. This role offers flexibility, allowing for remote work or office-based work in Minneapolis.

Duties

• Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications, including utility, design, and utility model applications.
• Respond to Office Actions from USPTO and foreign patent offices.
• Coordinate international patent prosecution with foreign associate counsel.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, business leaders, and in-house IP counsel to identify inventions and draft patent applications.
• Support and execute global IP portfolio management strategies.
• Assist with broader IP-related work, including reviewing invention disclosures, patent applications, and file histories.
• Prepare and review USPTO forms and required documentation.

Requirements

• Licensed and/or registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Minimum of 5 years of patent prosecution experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Science.

Certifications

• Registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
