Fritz Family Post Doctoral Fellow
The candidate work for both to lead cross-disciplinary research on technology law and policy issues across programs and institutions at the university, and to assist with curriculum development for students interested in technology law and policy. Will conduct cross-disciplinary research that bridges across and connects the Institute for Tech Law & Policy and the Communications, Culture & Technology graduate program. In collaboration with faculty in both programs, the fellow will: conduct research on the intersection of law and technology, with a focus on privacy; produce scholarship related to their research; and consult with technologists and other scholars that are members of Georgetown’s cross-disciplinary Tech & Society program and other scholars that are members of Georgetown’s cross-disciplinary Tech & Society program to enhance their scholarship with technical sophistication. This research will support the Fritz Family Fellowship program’s objectives of bridging various programs across the university, and of facilitating the creation of innovative and interdisciplinary tech policy scholarship. Assist with curriculum development, including of Georgetown’s cross-disciplinary tech offerings, and supervise Master’s of Law and Technology (MLT) students. The MLT degree program requires close collaboration between the law school and the Communications, Culture & Technology program, and the fellow will assist in developing and supporting this cross-disciplinary collaboration, such as by advising MLT students and connecting the students to applied research opportunities within the University. The fellow also will supervise two or more MLT students in experiential learning opportunities hosted by the Institute for Tech Law & Policy and/or the tech clinics, in projects that include cross-disciplinary research and advocacy. Wll, for administrative purposes, report to the Executive Director of the Institute for Technology Law & Policy. This individual will reside in the tech clinics on the law campus so as to enable close collaboration with the faculty in those clinics, Laura Moy and Amanda Levendowski. The fellow also will collaborate with faculty at the law school as well as faculty in the Communications, Culture & Technology program in both their research and in curriculum development, and travel to Hilltop campus as necessary to assist in advising MLT students and consulting with CCT faculty. Work directly with MLT students, the directors of the Communications & Technology Law Clinic and the Intellectual Property and Information Policy Clinic, and students of the two clinics. Law degree required. 2 years of experience in tech law and policy, including privacy and communications law and policy is needed. Must have rich understanding of tech policy key stakeholders, including in academia, government, and civil society. Experience managing and supervising students in a practical setting is required. Experience teaching, with experience teaching in a law school clinic strongly preferred
