Job Overview

A law firm seeks an associate attorney to join their maritime litigation and/or insurance coverage and bad faith defense teams in Seattle, WA. The firm provides comprehensive legal services across the U.S. West Coast and globally, specializing in maritime and transportation law, as well as insurance and bad faith matters.

Duties

• Investigate maritime incidents involving property damage or personal injury.
• Represent clients throughout incident response, litigation, and appeals.
• Draft and file pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Conduct legal research and participate in written discovery.
• Conduct depositions and appear for court hearings and trials.
• Provide strategic legal advice to clients.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and mediations.
• Analyze insurance coverage and draft related opinions.
• Represent clients in all phases of bad faith litigation.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience, with at least 1 year in coverage preferred.
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage cases independently and work collaboratively.
• Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar and/or State Bar of California.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Bar admission in Washington and/or California.
