Job Overview:
A well-established national law firm is seeking a Labor & Employment Attorney with at least 5 years of relevant legal experience to join its Chicago-based office. The successful candidate will support both public and private sector clients across a wide range of labor and employment matters, including collective bargaining, unfair labor practices, employment litigation, and workplace counseling. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney to join a collaborative and growth-oriented legal team.

Duties:
Advise public and private employers on matters related to employee misconduct, discipline, and unfair labor practices
Handle labor arbitrations and participate in collective bargaining negotiations
Provide employment law counseling related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, and general HR compliance
Draft legal documents and correspondence, including position statements, legal memoranda, and arbitration briefs
Represent clients in administrative hearings and proceedings
Engage in business development and maintain strong client relationships
Stay informed on legal developments relevant to labor and employment law
Interact with clients and opposing counsel; demonstrate sound legal judgment under pressure
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience practicing labor and employment law
Demonstrated experience representing public sector clients is highly valued
Experience handling union matters, labor arbitrations, and employee discipline issues
Knowledge of Illinois police officer and firefighter disciplinary acts is a plus
Comfortable working directly with clients and managing complex caseloads
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in the State of Illinois
Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
Highly organized and detail-oriented with a professional demeanor
