A distinguished immigration law firm in San Jose, California is seeking a highly organized and experienced Intake Attorney to lead and support its legal intake team. This key role serves as the first point of legal contact for prospective clients and plays a critical role in identifying viable immigration cases, overseeing intake operations, and collaborating with legal staff to ensure seamless transitions from consultation to representation. The ideal candidate will bring a background in immigration law, strong client communication skills, and leadership capabilities to guide intake staff and support firm growth.

Conduct immigration consultations with prospective clients and determine appropriate legal strategy
Supervise intake paralegals and contract preparers, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of scopes, retainers, and questionnaires
Communicate case insights to the Intake Committee to support new client evaluation
Review and assign new intakes to appropriate legal teams
Support hiring and training efforts for the Intake Department
Explain immigration options and strategies to clients and intake staff
Occasionally assist with client preparation for USCIS hearings or court appearances
Provide legal review and feedback on select immigration applications and legal briefs
Conduct legal research and strategic assessments of potential client matters
Maintain accurate records and contribute to departmental process improvements
3–5 years of experience practicing immigration law
Proven ability to evaluate legal merit of immigration cases
Experience in a supervisory or team leadership role (preferred)
Background in client service or legal sales is a plus
Skilled in high-volume case evaluation and workflow management
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Active and in good standing with a U.S. state bar
Admission to the California Bar (preferred but not required)
Full bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (required)
Strong interpersonal and client communication skills
Ability to present complex legal concepts in a clear and persuasive manner
Familiarity with family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, removal defense (detained and non-detained), and naturalization cases
Proficiency in legal case management software (preferred)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to escalate and communicate legal and operational issues effectively
