Job Overview

A national defense law firm is seeking a Cybersecurity & Class Action Associate Attorney to join its Washington, D.C. office. This role is ideal for a litigation attorney with strong interest or experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, and class action defense. The position offers hands-on work with high-profile privacy lawsuits, regulatory investigations, and cutting-edge legal issues. A hybrid work model is available for eligible candidates.

Duties

  • Assist in the defense of data breach and privacy class action lawsuits filed in federal and state courts

  • Conduct legal research and provide analysis of U.S. and international privacy laws

  • Respond to government and regulatory investigations related to cybersecurity incidents

  • Draft pleadings, briefs, motions, and discovery responses

  • Participate in and take depositions; work closely with expert witnesses

  • Support legal teams with e-Discovery strategy and document management

  • Collaborate on case strategy and provide updates to clients and insurers

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of complex litigation experience in federal and/or state courts

  • Prior experience or strong interest in data privacy and cybersecurity law

  • Experience with class action defense preferred but not required

  • Knowledge of BIPA, VPPA, CCPA, GDPR, and other privacy frameworks is a plus

  • Familiarity with state and federal rules of civil procedure

  • Strong understanding of litigation workflows and deadlines

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Admission in Washington, D.C., or eligibility for admission by waiver preferred

Skills

  • Excellent legal research and brief writing abilities

  • Strong oral advocacy and communication skills

  • Highly organized, with ability to manage deadlines across multiple cases

  • Proficiency with large-scale e-Discovery platforms and litigation tools

  • Team-oriented, collaborative mindset with ability to work independently
