Job Overview

A prominent law firm based in Columbia, SC, is seeking a highly experienced trial attorney to lead a dedicated litigation team handling complex cases involving financial misrepresentation, with a focus on Indexed Universal Life (IUL) insurance disputes and premium-financed insurance schemes. This position offers the opportunity to drive strategy, lead a legal team, and directly influence case outcomes in high-stakes matters.

Duties

• Direct litigation strategies across 15–25 active investor loss and insurance fraud cases

• Draft, file, and argue substantive motions; lead and manage discovery and deposition phases

• Collaborate with specialized experts in financial services, life insurance, and economics

• Represent clients in mediations, negotiations, and other high-leverage resolution forums

• Guide and mentor associate attorneys, litigation analysts, and support staff

• Maintain ongoing communication with clients and update them on case progress

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of litigation experience, ideally involving financial services, insurance disputes, or mass tort claims

• Admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

• Demonstrated success in managing complex litigation, including leadership over the full case lifecycle

• Prior experience working with expert witnesses and handling discovery-heavy matters

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in SC in good standing.

• Advanced legal research, drafting, and courtroom advocacy

• Strategic litigation planning and risk assessment

• Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills

• Familiarity with financial product structures and regulatory frameworks

• Excellent negotiation and case resolution capabilities
