Mini-Pupillage
Important Notice
Please note that, due to current circumstances, we are unable to provide mini pupillages in chambers. We apologise for any inconvenience.
We are instead offering a Virtual Mini Pupillage Day for those that would have otherwise been offered a mini-pupillage in person. Please continue to apply in the ordinary way to be considered for this opportunity. We will be in touch with the successful candidates.
Thank you for your interest in 9SJS.
Chambers offers 24 mini-pupillages every year. Please note the following application deadlines:
If you would like to apply for a mini-pupillage in chambers please send an email to Amy Smith at ****
. Alternatively, please send letters FAO Amy Smith.
To apply please send a covering letter
and curriculum vitae.
Please note, applications will not be considered unless candidates have completed their first year of university (in any degree).
There are two deadlines each year: 30th April and 31st October.
If you do not make a deadline you will be considered by the next deadline.
If you apply by the 30th April and are successful, we hope to book a mini-pupillage in with you between June and November.
If you apply by the 31st October and are successful, we hope to book a mini-pupillage in with you between December and May.
If you are successful you will be contacted within four weeks of each deadline.
We get a large number of applications and as such we do not contact those who have not been successful. If you have not been successful we are also unable to offer feedback.
Applications for mini-pupillage are a competitive process. It is recommended that you consider the criteria for applications for pupillage as a guide. Further, the way in which candidates express themselves within their application will be a factor. It would help applicants to explain how their experiences make them a better candidate for a mini pupillage.
Chambers particularly encourages applications from those who attended a state school or college and meet any of the following criteria:
neither parent went to university;
received free school meals;
family has received income support;
have caring responsibilities; and/or
were in care.
Women and applicants from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities are also particularly encouraged to apply.
If you require any reasonable adjustments during the application process or during a mini-pupillage, please do not hesitate to contact us.
