Profile

A law firm seeks an experienced Senior Employment Attorney for its Short Hills, NJ office. This position offers a hybrid work model with some in-office requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in labor and employment law, particularly in managing complex litigation, providing legal counsel, and handling corporate transactions. Occasional travel may be required.

Duties:

  • Lead litigation efforts for both class action and individual employment-related cases, focusing on issues such as wage disputes, misclassification, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and breach of contract.
  • Provide expert legal advice and counsel on employment law, including the drafting and negotiation of employment contracts, termination/severance agreements, and other related documents.
  • Conduct due diligence related to employment matters for corporate transactions.
  • Advise on employment policies, restrictive covenants, employee mobility, compensation structures, commission plans, and training requirements.
  • Offer legal guidance on leave of absence and accommodation issues (FMLA, ADA).
  • Represent clients in front of state and federal courts and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage and defend class and collective actions, providing ongoing advice and support to clients in various industries.

Requirements:

  • At least 8 years of experience in labor and employment law, covering litigation, advisory work, and transactional matters.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including wage and hour regulations, discrimination statutes, and legal practices before state and federal courts and administrative bodies.
  • Proven track record defending class and collective actions and offering day-to-day legal counsel to diverse clients.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in New York (additional admissions in other states a plus).

  • Strong analytical abilities and exceptional writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and precision in legal documentation.
  • Solid business judgment with a capacity for strategic thinking.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

  • Advanced problem-solving skills and conceptual thinking.
  • Management capabilities, with experience leading and mentoring junior attorneys.
