A law firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Attorney to join its growing tax controversy practice in Yorba Linda, CA. This role involves representing individuals and businesses in matters before various tax authorities, including the IRS and state agencies.

Duties

• Represent clients in federal and state tax controversy matters.
• Analyze tax issues and develop strategies for dispute resolution.
• Draft legal documents such as memoranda, protest letters, and appeals.
• Communicate with IRS, FTB, CDTFA, EDD, and other agencies.
• Conduct legal research and provide advice to clients.
• Attend client meetings, hearings, and court proceedings.
• Review financial records and tax returns.
• Manage a caseload independently and collaborate with staff.
• Maintain accurate timekeeping and meet billable hour requirements.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in California and authorized to appear before the IRS.
• 2+ years of experience in tax controversy or related matters preferred.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and client-relations abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously.
• Experience with IRS collections, audits, and state tax matters is a plus.
