The candidate responsibilities will include: Presides of the probate docket by conducting hearings, ruling on motions, and making decision in a timely matter. Conducts legal research, analyzes case law, reviews rules of procedure, and researches legal issues. Prepares various court documents and drafts court decisions; and May attend meetings on the Judge’s behalf and performs other duties as assigned by the Judge. Juris Doctorate degree is required. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio. Should preferably have 6+ years of experience in probate practice – a wide breadth of experience with the various types of cases handled by the probate court is preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of the legal system to include Ohio probate law, case law, and court process/procedure is required. Knowledge of local court rules, Rules of Evidence, Rules for Superintendence of the Courts, the Ohio Revised Code, Administrative Code, Rules of Juvenile, Civil and Criminal Procedure, Federal rules and regulations, etc is required. Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
