Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated senior associate attorney to join its Environment, Energy & Resources practice group in Portland, OR. The successful candidate will lead significant matters at the intersection of digital infrastructure and energy transition, working with nationally recognized partners.

Duties

• Lead data center power transactions, drafting and negotiating power purchase agreements and interconnection arrangements.
• Provide strategic advice on electric market design issues within RTOs/ISOs, focusing on capacity market mechanisms and interconnection policies.
• Represent clients in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and advise on compliance with market-based rate programs.
• Counsel clients on emerging energy policy, renewable energy integration, and carbon-free energy procurement strategies.
• Participate in client relationship management and contribute to thought leadership in digital and energy infrastructure.
• Mentor associates within the practice group, ensuring excellence in work product and professional development.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in energy law.
• Proven ability to manage complex transactions and regulatory filings independently.
• Deep knowledge of the Federal Power Act and wholesale power markets.
• Collaborative self-starter.
• Must be admitted to practice (or eligible to waive in) to the jurisdiction of office location.

Education

• JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
