The candidate will work with employee inventors to evaluate inventions and assess patentability. Manage day to day operation of patent filing programs. Prepare, file and prosecute applications involving new inventions with the United States Patent & Trademark Office or manage external counsel doing same. Evaluation of patent infringement claims. Support company initiatives involving the patent portfolio, including licensing, monetization, M&A activity, and open source related matters. Manage patent budget. Manage paralegal tasked with maintaining patent docket and associated files. BA/BS degree required in a technical field; advanced degree (e.g., MS, JD) preferred. Registered as patent agent with USPTO. 5-10 years of experience as a patent agent (or equivalent) with a law firm or in-house. Strong technical background relevant to media/ streaming/ wireless related technologies. Experience with open source strongly desired, but not required. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and autonomously. Attention to detail. Strong communication skills, communicating directly with clients and partners. In-depth knowledge of patent law and prosecution protocols.
