A prestigious law firm is seeking a qualified Patent Agent with a strong background in biology to join its Boston office. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about intellectual property and innovation in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. The selected candidate will work closely with attorneys and clients to draft and prosecute patent applications, conduct technical evaluations, and provide support across a range of IP-related matters.

Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications related to biological and pharmaceutical inventions
Evaluate scientific and technical disclosures for patentability
Conduct prior art searches and prepare freedom-to-operate and patentability opinions
Support patent litigation efforts through technical analysis and documentation
Counsel clients on intellectual property strategy
Collaborate with attorneys to support due diligence, licensing, and other IP-related transactions
Relevant experience in patent prosecution (preferred)
Familiarity with U.S. patent laws and the application process
Prior experience as a registered Patent Agent is highly desirable
Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related life science field (required)
Registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required
Strong technical writing and communication skills
Ability to interpret and explain complex scientific concepts clearly
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Experience in client-facing roles or client counseling preferred
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based legal environment
