Job Title: Energy, Environmental, And Infrastructure Associate Attorney
Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in Phoenix, AZ, is actively seeking an experienced attorney to join its Energy, Environmental, and Infrastructure practice group. This role involves engaging in complex transactional matters with a focus on renewable energy, infrastructure projects, and natural resources. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of legal acumen, strong commercial awareness, and familiarity with project development and transactional work in the energy sector.
Duties:
Oversee and manage sophisticated energy and natural resources transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures
Draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts, shared facilities arrangements, and procurement deals
Advise on legal considerations related to project development in renewable energy, such as build-to-transfer structures and equipment supply arrangements
Participate in infrastructure project work involving engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreements
Support financing activities within the energy and natural resources space, including project and structured finance
Provide legal guidance on oil and gas sector transactions (experience in this area is a plus)
Collaborate with cross-practice teams on multidisciplinary legal matters
Take responsibility for managing timelines, client interactions, and multiple concurrent projects
Requirements:
3-7 years of post-qualification legal experience, ideally gained in a reputable law firm or transactional practice group
Proven experience in transactional energy and infrastructure matters, including renewables
Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritize effectively
Strong drafting, negotiation, and client communication skills
Capacity to take initiative and assume substantial responsibility in a fast-paced setting
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school
Certifications:
Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with the ability to become licensed in Arizona if not already admitted
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of energy law, commercial contract structures, and infrastructure project lifecycles
Familiarity with key industry documentation such as PPAs, EPCs, and procurement contracts
Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to contribute to a collaborative and dynamic legal environment
Commercial sensibility and attention to legal and business risk
Experience with oil & gas or financing work is beneficial.
