General Liability Defense Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm seeks a motivated and driven General Liability Defense Associate Attorney to join its Tampa office. This position is ideal for candidates with 0-3 years of experience in general liability defense and offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within a collaborative environment. As part of a larger team of over 120 attorneys across multiple states, the successful candidate will manage cases from inception through resolution, including trial involvement. Duties

• Manage and lead a caseload of general liability defense matters, guiding cases through all stages of litigation.
• Conduct legal research and provide initial case assessments and strategy recommendations.
• Oversee discovery, including drafting responses, taking depositions, and interviewing witnesses.
• Draft and file legal motions, pleadings, and other documents related to case progression.
• Attend hearings and conferences with opposing counsel to negotiate settlements and resolve disputes.
• Assist with trial preparation and, as appropriate, take a leading role in trials.
• Collaborate with colleagues across multiple offices to provide clients with effective legal solutions.

Requirements

• 0-3 years of experience in general liability defense.
• Strong interest in and commitment to the defense of general liability claims.
• Proven ability to independently manage cases and lead legal processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to work well as part of a dynamic and supportive team.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• An active member of the Florida Bar in good standing.

Skills

• Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.
