Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney for their Environmental Group in Princeton, NJ. The successful candidate will represent clients on environmental permitting, compliance, and transactional matters, working on complex regulatory issues and advising clients across various industries.

Duties

  • Advise clients on environmental permitting and regulatory compliance at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Represent clients before regulatory agencies such as NJDEP, EPA, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Counsel clients on site remediation and brownfield redevelopment.
  • Provide guidance on land use and NJDEP permitting and compliance requirements.
  • Support transactional matters with environmental due diligence and risk assessment.
  • Assist with or lead environmental litigation and enforcement matters.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop practical solutions.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New Jersey Bar required; New York Bar admission is a plus.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in environmental law, focusing on permitting and compliance.
  • Experience representing clients before NJDEP, EPA, and/or U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Demonstrated experience with site remediation, brownfields, and environmental due diligence.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulatory frameworks related to air, water, and waste.
  • Litigation experience in environmental matters is a plus.
  • Prior experience in the Office of the Attorney General and/or judicial clerkship preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to client service and the highest ethical standards.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the New Jersey Bar required; New York Bar admission is a plus.
